Tricks for Wine Collecting

Wine collecting can be fun and exciting especially when you travel searching for the wine of you choice. If you are planning to collect wines, you may need to spend more money on wines that have high category brands and those that are vintage. Here are some tips to help you in collecting wines.

1. You may start finding a storage place for your wine collections. You may create a place for cooling and storing at home for all the wines you collect.

2. You should determine what type and brands you would like to collect. You may have the option of buying only the red or white wines. You should have a plan on where you want to start buying wines with good refinery and quality.

3. You may participate in trade shows where there are wine exhibits. This is a chance for you to get to know the members of the wine clubs and get to know the local wine traders.

4. You should educate yourself on wines. You may purchase wine magazines and wine newsletters for more information about wines. They will also be able to provide you tips about buying, storing and cooling wines.

5. You may purchase magnums for wine storage. It will make the wine more processed because of the small cork that covers the entire hole of the bottle. It protects the content from air and sunlight as well.

6. You may consider purchasing "wine futures". This can assure you of acquiring the best international wines.

7. You may try tasting varieties of wines to prepare them for storage. You can identify which wine needs more aging. You may learn more about wine when you master the art of tasting and distinguishing which wine is the best.

8. Learn how to identify flavor quality. There is a difference between the vintage wines and the instantly processed wines.

9. Before purchasing wine in bulk, make sure that you are sure about what kinds of wines you would like to collect.

10. You should also let the wine traders know that you are a wine enthusiast. They can let you know if the wines you collect are available in their stores. You could even ask for their contact numbers with advice on what wine you should get if you travel to a particular place.

Collecting wine doesn't just provide leisure and fun. It may also be considered as a gateway to starting up your own business. You may attend local wine festivals and tasting events to discover new brands of wines and locally made ones that could have high potential in the market.
Correct wine etiquette makes the tasting experience more comfortable and enjoyable. Like most interests, there is a set of protocol that most wine lovers adhere to. Good taste dictates that tasting at wineries, ordering wine at restaurants, and hosting a dinner party all require certain formalities.

Food and wine choice advice from an expert wine taster

Food and wine were meant to go together. In my big Italian family, no gathering was complete without plenty of both. Winter feasts were easy for the food and wine lovers among us - a hearty red table wine is the perfect foil for most southern Italian dishes. A pitcher of table wine drawn from the cask in the basement was the typical accompaniment to our everyday meals.

Red, white or rose, Italian table wines are meant to be imbibed in the casual atmosphere of a family dinner. They are light enough to be enjoyed even by the casual food and wine enthusiast, and robust enough to complement the full-flavored richness of smoked and barbecued food. Which leads us to the subject of this little soliloquy - mixing and matching food and wine for the barbecue. My own tastes run to Italian jug wines, and if it was up to me, I'd tell you to just go out and buy a jug of Chianti and a jug of Lambrusco. It's what I grew up with, and I happen to love the little sparkle that a good Lambrusco (yes, they do exist!) adds to food.

In the interests of presenting a fair and educated view, however, I decided to check with an expert. Austin Liquor has been voted Best Liquor Store in Worcester for the past 5 years, mostly on the strength of its weekly wine tasting. A Friday night tradition in Worcester since the late 1970s, each tasting offers food and wine based around one or two specific vintages. I was directed to Richard Beams, Austin Liquor's resident wine expert, and directed my question to him: "What food and wine combination would you recommend for a summer barbecue?"

I did get my recommendations - but I also got a wonderful overview of Rich's philosophy of choosing wines, especially for fun or everyday occasions.

"I don't think it's necessary for people to spend more than $12 for a bottle of wine for an everyday dinner," he told me. "For a special occasion like an anniversary dinner, sure, you can spend $20 or more for a bottle. A barbecue is a fun occasion, though. For a barbecue you can get really good quality wine for under $12."

That may come as a surprise to those of us who have been intimidated into believing that the only true quality wines come with corks and high price tags.

Said Rich to that: "I like wine to be fun. It should be fun. Too many people try to snob it up and break down the flavors so far that it's not fun anymore. I advise people to find something they like and enjoy it. I like to steer people to the less expensive wines that are excellent quality."

So what does Rich recommend to go with the food at a summer barbecue?

"I like to recommend a nice, light Riesling, " he told me. "Something crisp and fresh."

In fact, he told me, several of their recent wine tasting afternoons have featured barbecued food and wine that complements it. He recommended several wines that he feels are 'fun wines' with good value.

Flaio Primitivo (Salento, Italy) Primitivo is a grape varietal grown in the heel of Italy's boot. It's very similar to a good California Zinfandel - in Rich's words it's "almost an exact copy". It retails for about $7 a bottle and is a great accompaniment for burgers and ribs.

Bonny Doon Big House Red (California) Bonny Doon has a lot of fun with their wines, according to Rich, and he does believe that wine should be fun. Big House Red is a blend of 7 or 8 grapes. According to Bonny Doon's own web site, those varietals include syrah, petite sirah, Grenache, barbera and malbec. It retails for about $12 a bottle and its robust licorice and raspberry-accented bouquet stands up to the spiciest barbecued ribs.

Monte Antico (Tuscany, Italy) - "very similar to a Chianti Sangiovese," said Rich. At $12 a bottle, it's got great fruit, balances a barbecue, holds up well, and has a very Italian looking label." To quote Monte Antico's own press, this wine is "Dark ruby in color, its bouquet of leather, earth, herbs, black cherries, licorice and plums is confirmed on the medium to full-bodied palate - round, spicy, elegant, attractively fruity and extremely versatile with any fare from pasta or risotto, to meat, fowl and cheese."

Rich's final recommendation was another 'fun' wine, one that he says is a great 'food wine'. The top in his book is:

Three Thieves 2002 Zinfandel was voted #8 as one of the Hottest Small Brands of 2005. The wine comes in a 1 liter jug with a screw top, and is marketed as a 'fun thing', says Rich, but the wine inside is a full bodied red zinfandel that goes great with burgers or eggplant parmagiana.

"The wine is excellent, and it's about $11," Rich added. He also added the following advice for would-be wine fanciers. "You don't have to spend a lot to find excellent quality wines. If you find something that you like, make a note. You can go into a store and tell someone there that you liked 'this brand' and they'll steer you to other similar wines for you to try."

Final analysis? Good food and wine that's fun are the cornerstone of a great summer barbecue. Skip the fancy labels, vintages and price tags and pick out a wine that you like. Who cares what the noses think as long as your nose is tickled pink?

About 90 percent of American Wines are produced in California region. The cold areas like Napa Valley, Sonoma Country etc are the other Wine producing regions. The most prestigious wine brand - Zinfandel is produced exclusively in California. This Wine is almost equal to any classic European wine. The California Wines have much alcoholic content, aroma and flavour compared to any European Wine.

The California Wine has been the ultimate choice among wine-lovers. The appreciators of California Wine are scattered around every corner of the World. It is not always possible for the wine-lovers or for the wine-collectors to visit California and buy its wine. They can buy it online via the websites dealing with online wine transactions.

The actual wine lovers or even the amateur wine lovers are very often eager to buy rare species of wine from different countries. To fulfil their demands, an easy way is to buy it online through different websites dealing with online wine transaction.

Procedure to buy Californian Wine online has become very easier today and as time passes, it will be easier. The buyers should decide first which wine to buy. The buyers can take help of any Search Engine to search the online wine websites.

The online Wine websites used to have the help desk for their customers to sort out their problems. By the virtue of online Wine transaction an amateur wine lover can taste Wine from abroad without having any passport or visa!!!

Reasons behind the price-hike of Wine:

The consumers should know the factors that motivate the wine prices. As the California's Wine Industry has emerged in last few decades, this momentary expansion is a double-edged sword for a customer. Competition in the Californian Wine Market is getting so intensive and impactive that many rare wines are priced very aptly; while some average wines are sold in very high price.

The prices of Wine are influenced by the marketing approach of the product. Packaging, labelling and promotion not always affect the standard of the Wine but the price is affected by these. The technologies and concepts that are used in the Wineries are sometimes responsible for the price-hike. Some famous Wineries have their reputed brand of wines, which are very high in price.

It is very unfortunate that the buyers always have the concept that the low price wines are not so superior in quality. This makes the Winery owners to change their product pricing standard. The Winery owners used to rely on the choices of the consumers.

The Consumer should keep the following things in their mind before buying Wine online:

As Wine is a living product it needs extra care in order to keep its quality standard. Tussle during the shipment sometimes abolish the virtue of the wines which is incurred by a long term process. According to the Wine experts wine should be bought one or more weeks before to opening it. The Wine should be stored in dark with a corked cap to make it fresh and preserved. A decent corkscrew is needed to unscrew for impressing the guests.

Last but not the least, for the online ordering of Wine an adult must be in the house to receive the shipment when it arrives. The unaccepted Wines are generally returned back to the warehouse and it is very difficult to get it back from the warehouse. Moreover the wines deposited in the warehouses are sometimes loose in quality and taste
